LOC NINH WARD PILOTS A MODEL OF SOURCE SEPARATION OF WASTE

The conference was chaired by comrade Nguyen Thi Nghia, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the ward People's Committee. It was attended by representatives of the Standing Board of the ward Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of socio-political organisations; relevant agencies and units; the Party Cell Secretaries, Heads of Management Boards and Heads of the Fatherland Front Working Boards of Quarter 1 and Quarter 7; representatives of the Boards of Management of Loc Ninh Secondary School and Loc Ninh B Primary School, together with leaders and civil servants of the Office of the ward People's Council and People's Committee.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and agreeing on solutions to deploy the pilot model of source separation of waste. Among these, communication and guidance for residents to sort waste right at their households was identified as the key task, in order to raise awareness of environmental protection, limit improper waste disposal and promote effective reuse and recycling of waste.

The model is deployed with the participation of agencies, units, schools, residential areas and mass organisations in the locality, aiming to gradually form the habit of waste sorting in the community and to improve the effectiveness of waste collection, transport and treatment.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Thi Nghia, Chairwoman of the ward People's Committee, emphasised that deploying the source separation model requires close coordination among agencies and units and the consensus of the people. She also requested the assigned units to proactively develop plans, step up communication and provide specific guidance so that residents can easily access and implement it; and to regularly inspect and evaluate results and promptly resolve any difficulties and obstacles that arise.

Through the pilot model, Loc Ninh Ward expects to create positive changes in people's awareness and actions regarding environmental protection, helping to reduce pollution, build a green, clean and beautiful urban landscape and work towards the goal of sustainable development.
